Packers QB Jordan Love not practicing without new deal, more pressure for Cowboys with Dak Prescott
The price always goes up. History is filled with this reality, and unfortunately for all of us we have had to watch many examples of this over the course of this offseason while we have been trapped in “all-in” land. Other NFL teams have been living in reality, though.
We have reached an important time in the calendar as different NFL teams are starting to report to training camp. Soon enough our Dallas Cowboys will join the fold. Whether or not CeeDee Lamb is among them remains to be seen.
One player across the league who we will not be seeing any football from as of late majorly helped end Lamb’s most recent season. On Monday morning we learned that the Green Bay Packers will not see quarterback Jordan Love practice until he has a brand new deal with the team.
Love has started 18 games throughout his four-year career so far with 17 of them happening last year in his debut season what with Aaron Rodgers out of the fold.
But this conversation is not about Love as it is about Dak Prescott. The only way reason that Love matters here is that he represents yet another quarterback who could/will get paid before the Dallas Cowboys take care of Dak Prescott, presuming they ultimately do so.
This offseason saw the Detroit Lions pay Jared Goff and the Jacksonville Jaguars pay Trevor Lawrence. Again, presuming that Dallas is going to lock Prescott down, they have gone about this (and other deals) in the most inefficient manner possible.
There are many people who believe that the lack of activity from the Cowboys has in fact been them showing their cards in not wanting to bring Prescott back. But if the team does, in fact, ink him to a long-term deal, then we can all agree that it is going to be of the franchise quarterback variety. If this is the case, do you not agree that this will have been among the worst possible ways that they could have handled this situation? Again?
The Packers and Jordan Love basically announced that they are working on getting something done. He may “only” have 18 starts to his name, but he also has two playoff starts including a dismantling of these very Cowboys. He is very likely going to get paid something that is going to make paying Prescott more difficult from a financial perspective.
These things never change. Only the teams and players. Except for the Dallas Cowboys.
