Dallas Cowboys news: Pass rusher Sam Williams carted off of field during Sunday practice

The Dallas Cowboys hit the practice field for their fourth session of training camp on Sunday. Just before they did head coach Mike McCarthy noted that Tuesday was when pads would come on for the first time, but just because they aren’t on doesn’t mean this isn’t a dangerous game.

Unfortunately the dangers of football reared their ugly head early on when pass rusher Sam Williams suffered an injury to his left leg. He appeared to be in a lot of pain and was even carted off.

It is unclear at the moment exactly what Williams’s injury is, but obviously the cart coming out is never a good thing.

The Cowboys are entering the 2024 season with a higher level of dependence on Williams after watching both Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler Jr. walk in free agency, incidentally both to Dan Quinn’s Washington Commanders. Coupling that with the idea of potentially playing Micah Parsons at linebacker more often, an absence from Williams would be significant.

We will update this post as more information becomes available.
