UPDATE: Cowboys DT Mazi Smith will not play against Las Vegas Raiders after suffering allergic reaction

Update: Saturday, August 27th at 2:00pm ET

It was reported on Saturday that Mazi Smith will in fact not travel to Las Vegas as a result of the allergic reaction that he suffered. He will obviously not play in the game.

As noted below in the original post, the most important thing is Mazi’s health. Hopefully he gets to feeling well as soon as possible.

With less than 24 hours to go until their preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders the Dallas Cowboys made an announcement about one of their players. Second-year defensive tackle Mazi Smith suffered an allergic reaction on Friday afternoon and as a result did not travel with the team to Las Vegas. The statement from the team notes that Smith will be reevaluated in order to see if he can play on Saturday night.

At the time of this writing these are all of the details that are available and it goes without saying that the utmost priority is his health. Hopefully he is alright.

The Cowboys and Raiders kick off at 10pm ET so there is a bit of time to figure out how Smith is doing, and obviously Oxnard is not too far from Las Vegas. Surely the Cowboys will do what they can to make sure they tend to Smith’s needs first and foremost.

All the best to Mazi.
