Dallas Cowboys trade tracker: News, reports and rumors before Tuesday’s deadline

Tuesday is a big day across the United States as the NFL trade deadline officially arrives at 4:00pm ET (couldn’t help myself).

In all seriousness, Tuesday marks the last opportunity for teams to make significant moves in the name of improving their odds of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at season’s end. Similarly, the day offers the last chance for teams to sell off assets in the name of accepting what fate handed them this season with eyes more focused and fixated on the future.

The latter has never been a move the Dallas Cowboys have explored, but the former seems disconnected from their current reality. If and when anything does happen to, for or through the Cowboys on Tuesday we will make note of it here.

This post will serve as our trade deadline tracker with all relevant news, information and rumors that you need to know.

Buckle up. Here we go.

Dallas Cowboys Trade Rumors

  • The Dallas Cowboys traded with the Carolina Panthers for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo. Ultimately the Cowboys sent Carolina their 2025 fourth-rounder and received Mingo plus the Panthers’ 2025 seventh-round pick in return.

Notable Deadline Day Deals Across the NFL

  • Early Tuesday morning the Detroit Lions struck a deal with the Cleveland Browns for edge rusher Za’Darius Smith (recall that Aidan Hutchinson was lost for the season when Detroit blew out Dallas). The Lions are sending a 2025 5th and a 2026 6th in exchange for Smith as well as a 2026 7th. This is important context if you wanted to consider the Cowboys trading away someone like DeMarcus Lawrence, although he is on injured reserve at the moment.
  • Also on Tuesday morning the Cincinnati Bengals made a trade with the Chicago Bears for running back Khalil Herbert. Cincinnati gave up a 2025 7th to get him.
