ATHENA Alert canceled, missing Grapevine boy found unharmed

A 9-year-old Grapevine boy reported missing after not making it to school Wednesday morning has been found unharmed. An ATHENA Alert issued in his disappearance has been canceled.

Family members told police the boy missed his bus Wednesday morning and left home to walk to Glenhope Elementary School but never arrived.

Police said they searched the neighborhood, surrounding parks, and the boy’s likely route to school. Officers are also looking for any surveillance video in the area that may show his traveling direction.

Grapevine police said at about 2:50 p.m. that the boy has been found and that he was located unharmed near the area where he was first reported missing.

“We want to thank our amazing community for the support and help in locating this little boy,” Grapevine police said. “We also thank the multiple partnering agencies who responded so quickly to assist in this search effort.”

Because the boy is a juvenile, his name and image have been removed from this story.
