Cowboys have 3 players in the NFLPA Top 50 sales list for last year

It will come as no surprise to you to learn that the Dallas Cowboys are very good at garnering attention as a worldwide brand. They are, after all, the most valuable professional sports team in the world.

The attention encircling them has a way of covering the players that play for them as well. This isn’t to take away from accomplishments that anybody has while wearing a Cowboys helmet, but the spotlight that the team draws can be a rising tide so to speak.

Such a phenomenon usually leads to players leading the way in sales of merchandise. Year in and year out the Cowboys find a way to top this or that list, but the one that the NFLPA churned our recently proved to be a bit different.

On Tuesday, there was the release of the NFLPA’s year-end top 50 list in terms of player sales. The time period involved is March 1st, 2023 through February 29th, 2024 so effectively all of last season. There are three Dallas Cowboys represented in total.

  1. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
  2. Jason Kelce, Philadelphia Eagles
  3. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
  4. Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
  5. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers
  6. Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets
  7. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
  8. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
  9. Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowboys
  10. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings
  11. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
  12. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
  13. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys
  14. Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins
  15. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
  16. George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers
  17. DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles
  18. Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions
  19. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
  20. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Micah Parsons (9th), CeeDee Lamb (13th) and Dak Prescott (20th) are the members of the team present and accounted for. They all just so happen to be in a position to get an extension with the team. They are all clearly a part of the focal point of the franchise in varying ways.

Last season marked the third, fourth and eighth seasons for the three, respectively, in the NFL which is why it stands to reason that Prescott would not generate as many sales as some newer players; however, we have seen different phenomena from lists like these in the past where players like Tom Brady continually showed up despite the notion that “everybody has their jersey already.”

Ultimately these sort of things don’t measure anything other than popularity. But the Cowboys have plenty of that going on. Now. Always. Forever.
