Cowboys roster: OL Earl Bostick returning to Dallas for surgery
A lot has happened to and for the Dallas Cowboys since we saw them last Sunday in their preseason opener. For starters, offensive tackle Chuma Edoga was revealed to have a foot/toe injury that is expected to sideline him 4-6 weeks. That vaulted rookie Tyler Guyton to the starting left tackle position (it was assumed he would eventually take it anyway).
In response to this the Cowboys signed offensive lineman Cohl Cabral to help bolster depth. That was Wednesday afternoon.
Just a few hours later the team traded for defensive tackle Jordan Phillips. Before anyone could have a proper breakfast to celebrate that on Thursday the Cowboys had signed Carl Lawson. As you can see things are rather busy.
In between all of that, the Cowboys lost offensive lineman Earl Bostick as he was carted off of the field during Wednesday’s joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams (where defensive tackle Albert Huggins was ejected for shoving a Rams staffer). The Cabral signing happened as practice wrapped and seemed to be the answer to Edoga’s absence, it remained unknown if Bostick would miss time as the carting off happened basically in parallel.
We now have our answer. According to the mothership Bostick is headed back to Dallas for surgery which means he will be out for some time.
Earl Bostick is on his way to Dallas to undergo surgery— so expect the #Cowboys to be without another offensive tackle for a significant period of time.
He was carted out of the scrimmage.
Cohl Cabral was signed on Wednesday.

As noted, Cabral is one offensive lineman in for a team that now seems to be down two. It would stand to reason that Dallas would want to find another body to replace Bostick. It was noted in the Cabral news that they also worked out Dru Samia so he is a name to watch.
The Cowboys needed to create two roster spots to accommodate Phillips and Lawson and took care of half of that on Thursday morning. Defensive tackle Carl Davis was the odd man out.
Whether or not Bostick, Edoga or somebody else will be the name there remains to be seen, but obviously if the team adds another offensive lineman they will have to make the math work yet again. Also if CeeDee Lamb returns (we hope that is more of a “when” and not “if” thing) a roster spot will need to be opened up for him as he is currently on the Did Not Report list.
