Cowboys training camp 2024: DaRon Bland picks up where he left off

Many had wondered how Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland would respond after becoming a household name in 2023. The record holder for pick-sixes in an NFL season has set the bar high for himself heading into 2024, that’s for sure.

As the Cowboys wrapped up Day 2 of training camp in Oxnard, California, it looks as if Bland has picked up where he left off last season.

DaRon Bland makes a sensational diving interception

Some players have a knack for being around the football and making plays, and Bland is certainly one of those guys. On Friday afternoon, in a team period featuring both starting units, Bland made a play on the football that invoked memories of his 2023 self.

QB Dak Prescott is seen dropping back and scanning the field before he brings his eyes back to the front side and lets the ball rip to WR Tyron Billy-Johnson. Bland is then seen flashing in front of the camera to make an impressive diving interception. From there, Bland gets up quickly and takes off toward the end zone while the rest of his defensive team celebrates and begin to hoot and holler.

By all estimations through two days, the word out of camp is that Prescott has been sharp throwing the football, and credit needs to be given where it’s due—Bland made an excellent play for the turnover.

2024 looks to be the first chance Cowboys fans will get to see both Bland and Trevon Diggs together, both on the outside, tormenting opposing defenses. Diggs is currently on the PUP list, but it is expected to be a short stay.

If Diggs can round back into his old self, and Bland continues to do what he does, this will be one of the most feared cornerback tandems in the NFL.
