Cowboys training camp: Dak Prescott shines in Dallas’ joint practice

Just four days stand between the Dallas Cowboys and their first preseason game. With that in mind, Dallas changed things up on Thursday afternoon. The Cowboys hosted a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams, giving them their first shot to practice against an outside opponent.

The Rams may not be the caliber of team they were back in 2021 when they won the Super Bowl, but they are an above-average squad. Los Angeles gave the Cowboys a good test on both sides of the ball.

Throughout the joint practice a few Cowboys stood out, but Dallas’ signal-caller Dak Prescott stole the show. Prescott was on his A-game, dicing up the Rams’ defense on a consistent basis. The 31-year-old quarterback made multiple impressive throws, earning him this afternoon’s star of the day award.

Prescott’s best throw of the day came on a beautiful connection between him and Brandin Cooks.

Dak Prescott’s long-term future is anything but certain, but you couldn’t tell that by his performance during camp. Prescott has picked up right where he left off last regular season, looking like the MVP-caliber quarterback he proved to be. He’s looked this good without his number one option, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, even stepping foot on the practice field.

If Prescott stays healthy and continues this level of play into the regular season, the Cowboys are once again going to have one of the most productive offenses in all of football.
