Cowboys training camp: Jalen Cropper making his case for reps
We’re almost there. In just days, the Dallas Cowboys will take the field in live game action this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. On Thursday, the Cowboys will host Los Angeles for a team practice before the teams square off for each team’s preseason opener. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, the Cowboys held a practice today. The feature of today’s undrafted stock watch makes another appearance in the spotlight from Oxnard, CA.
These were two outstanding plays for Jalen Cropper. Over the last few days, he has made routine trips to the end zone. In the first play, Cropper separated from Jourdan Lewis to make the grab in the end zone and held on to the football despite the oncoming contact. On the next play, Dak Prescott left the pocket and looked for Cropper, who ran a similar pattern to make a clutch catch in the “Mojo moment,” hauling in the pass slightly behind him. Here’s another great play:
Cropper has looked so effortless in movements. He sets up defenders well before making his breaks, has demonstrated great body control on catching passes near the back of the end zone, and has the speed to run away from the defense horizontally. He has stacked several good days at training camp so far and is becoming a reliable option for both the first-team and second-team offense. We’ll see how Cropper fares in the practice against the Rams and their second- and first-team defenses. It’ll be noteworthy if Cropper can carry over any momentum into Sunday’s game and for the remainder of the summer, but so far, he’s been off to a great start.
