Dallas Cowboys training camp coverage from social media: Highlights from Thursday’s practice
Thursday was the last Cowboys’ practice before heading to Las Vegas to play the Raiders in their second preseason game. There are still a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to the final roster when the season starts, and the boys are looking to the game on Saturday for another chance to prove their value.
In between the different injury scares at practice, first Brandin Cooks (knee soreness) and then Donovan Wilson (collision with DaRon Bland), there were a lot of great plays to be had. Here are just some of the highlights from today’s practice.
Trey Lance is looking to build off last week where he took his first game reps in about a year. These next two preseason games will be pivotal for him and his career. He had some good plays today like these throws to Kelvin Harmon and Tyron Billy Johnson.
Lance’s best quality is his use of his legs, which he used here to run for a touchdown.
With Brandin Cooks’ early exit in practice, Jalen Tolbert was the fill-in for WR1 and he did not disappoint.
Especially this bomb that Prescott placed perfectly where only Tolbert could catch it.
There has been a lot of talk about how well Mike Zimmer is able to disguise his defenses but it looks as though Prescott read this one perfectly.
Deuce Vaughn was back at practice today after a hamstring sidelined him for the first preseason game against the Rams. He looks great in this rep using his size to hide behind the offensive linemen and then break loose.
Malik Davis and Ezekiel Elliott had some good running reps as well. Elliott’s touchdown celebration isn’t exactly the famous “Zeke Leap”, but it sure shows that he can still get some air.
There have been a few roster moves in the past few days, including the addition of the new OT, Cohl Cabral, who was available today for his very first practice in Oxnard.
Micah Parsons wrecking practices is a tale as old as time, well at least as old as 2021 when he joined the NFL. Tyler Guyton is just learning this as he enters his starting LT role. Hopefully practicing against one of the best defensive players in the league will prove beneficial as we get closer and closer to Week 1 of the regular season.
Mazi Smith is looking much improved from last season so far at training camp and today’s practice was another continuation of that improvement.
The defensive backs have been the shining stars at training camp this season, in practice and in the first preseason game. The secondary is proving to be full of a lot of ball hawks. Today was another great practice from them. Here are a couple of PBU’s from Jourdan Lewis and Trevon Diggs.
After practice, Micah Parsons stayed back to get some extra work in with Mazi Smith.
