Report: Cowboys to be without Brandin Cooks for at least a week, maybe more, after infection developed
Wednesday marked the official beginning of a new work week for the Dallas Cowboys as they had some time to rest following last Thursday night’s win over the New York Giants.
Unfortunately, the win came at a price for Dallas as Micah Parsons developed a high-ankle sprain and DeMarcus Lawrence suffered a foot injury. The former is assumed to miss at least this week’s game and the latter will miss significant time as he was officially placed on injured reserve. In case you missed it, the Cowboys poached K.J. Henry from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad to give themselves a new pass rusher.
Even more unfortunately so that was apparently not the end of injury issues for the Cowboys. On Wednesday morning a report emerged from ESPN’s Todd Archer that wide receiver Brandin Cooks will at the very least miss Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and potentially even more. Apparently Cooks developed an infection in his right knee after having a procedure done following the win against the Giants.
The Cowboys will be without WR Brandin Cooks for at least this week vs. Pittsburgh and potentially longer after an infection developed in his right knee following a procedure he had after remaining in NY following the win against the Giants, according to multiple sources.

This is a horrible development for Brandin Cooks and we certainly hope that he is feeling okay and returns to proper health as soon as can be.
As far as football operations are concerned, the Cowboys are in some waters that no team wants to be in at the moment. As things stood they were already missing enough proper playmakers on offense outside of CeeDee Lamb. With Cooks sidelined for the time being we can assume that rookie Ryan Flournoy will at the very least be elevated, but he will join a group in Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks and KaVontae Turpin that is still very raw overall.
This news will likely feed speculation about Dallas trading for superstar wide receiver Davante Adams, a move they were reportedly linked to on Wednesday morning as well. But other sources are saying that there is no interest in Adams from the Cowboys.
