The Dallas Cowboys had an outstanding game against the Cleveland Browns, but it wasn’t without a hold-your-breath moment. In the final minutes of the third quarter, tight end Jake Ferguson was trying to make a play on offense and was tackled awkwardly, causing him to grab his knee immediately after the play ended.

There weren’t many updates after Ferguson left, but heading towards the bus when the game was over, it sounds like things are trending in a positive direction. Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News said Ferguson would get an MRI tomorrow and had his knee wrapped in ice leaving the locker room.

Coach Mike McCarthy also made it sound like it might not be too bad.

Ferguson is a big part of the Cowboys offensive game plan this season, and fans are excited for him to take a leap forward to being one of the game’s top tight ends. Before leaving with the injury, Ferguson had three receptions off five targets for 15 yards.

If he were to leave for an extended period of time, 2023 second-round pick Luke Schoonmaker should be next up in his place. Hunter Luepke cross-trained at the position this offseason, so he could also see some run.

For now, the Cowboys walk away with a win, but fingers crossed that Ferguson’s injury isn’t more than just a hyperextension or a sprain.

ESPN’s Todd Archer added that it looks like Ferguson’s ACL is intact.

We will see, but obviously that sounds very promising.
